Is Baking Soda and Vinegar Good for Drain Cleaning?
Baking soda and vinegar are largely touted by online blogs as a cure-all for drain cleaning. But does it actually work? This video will show whether or not baking soda and vinegar are good drain cleaners.
Your drain can become clogged when certain items are put in. This includes coffee grounds, dirt, hair, oils, paints, paper towels, and more. You can tell you have a clogged drain when the water stops running down the sink and pools up.
When baking soda and vinegar are combined, they foam up in a combustive reaction. Many people on the internet claim this clears clogs. First, you pour in a bunch of baking soda, and then the vinegar.
In this experiment, the testers start with a little bit of baking soda and vinegar, but the clog is not cleared. They add a bit more, and still nothing. They then add pressure by closing the tops of the drains and adding even more baking soda and vinegar.
The results are unimpressive. Even when adding more water, the clog is not cleared. Perhaps the clog was too severe, or maybe this solution is pure myth. For more information, click on the link above.
