For a number of reasons, copper piping will oxidize and corrode with time. This can result with buildup inside the piping. While small amounts of rust in your water are not harmful, they can give your water a bad taste. On the flipside, this can be extremely dangerous if you have lead in your piping. If this were the case, you would want to replace your piping right away. However, what can you do for simple corrosion of your copper pipes?

There is an easy mixture that you can make at home to solve this issue. Mix lemon juice and salt together at a three to one ratio until the salt is completely dissolved. Then, use a cloth to wipe the rust off the copper piping with this mixture. After you are done, make sure to rinse off the outside of the pipe to remove left over residue.
