The Importance Of Charitable Giving In the United States

Here in the United States, giving to charity is one way that we can give back to our communities, helping out those who are very much in need. In fact, over the course of the average year, more than half of all residents of the United States (around seventy percent of them, to be more exact) will partake in charitable giving to some extent. Much of this charity comes in the form of monetary donations, and just under five percent of the total income brought in by residents of the United States ends up being allocated to charitable giving in its many forms.

However, while giving monetarily is an amazing thing to do if you are able, it is a form of charity that is not always accessible to everybody. After all, many people here in the United States might not need charity themselves but are nevertheless working tirelessly just to get by. Even those who find themselves in a comfortable financial spot often do not have the extra funds to simply give away and instead must allocate those funds to things like student loan payments, mortgage payments, and setting up college funds for their children in time to successfully send them to college down the road. As many of us know all too clearly, money can be tight here in the United States. However, there are still ways in which we can give back to charity and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and who are very much in need.

Donating used clothing is one such way that this can happen and the demand for donated clothing is a high one. And on top of this, donating clothing is incredibly easy. All you have to do is drop your used clothing donations off at a Red Cross pickup location. The Red Cross pickup location is a common one, as Red Cross locations are spread all throughout the United States. And the typical Red Cross pickup location is likely to always be accepting new used clothing donations, as Red Cross locations are always in need. After all, the American Red Cross, wherever they are set up, operate twenty four hours of the day, providing food, shelter, blankets, and even blood to those who are in need. Of course, they also provide clothing, something that comes primarily from the donations that are dropped of at the average Red Cross pickup location. American Red Cross donations are essential and can provide new hope for many who might have lost it. And perhaps the American Red Cross clothing donations are some of the most important of all. Warm clothes can make all the difference, especially in areas where winters are cold and the homeless population of the United States often finds it a struggle just to survive until the spring, when things will finally begin to thaw.

Of course, giving your used clothing to a Red Cross pickup location gives back to the community. But what many people do not realize is that it also gives back to the environment. After all, more articles of clothing are consumed per year than ever before. In fact, it is likely that the average resident of the United States will buy as many as sixty eight articles of clothing in the span of just one year. Of course, this also means that the amount of clothing thrown away is also high, something that is very much backed up by the data that shows that the average person, no matter where they live in this country, will throw away ten pounds or more of clothing each and every year, a number that does not even account for other textiles that are thrown away. Just by donating your clothes, you can keep a great number of textiles out of the landfills, instead giving them new life in many different capacities (depending on the condition of the clothing when it is donated).

Making a clothing donation to a Red Cross pickup location is something that just about everyone can do, and dropping off said clothes at a Red Cross pickup location is incredibly easy as well here in the U.S.
